Hi, I noticed that there is a similar but smaller wiki about RPO, . It can be merged, as long as you use the method in Community, if you are interested. You do want your creation with more visibility, don't you?
I'm really excited to discover there's already a wikia on my new favorite book! If you'd like me to, I could help with converting the infoboxes on this site to the new mobile-friendly markup and style them a bit.
Since I haven't heard back, I'll go ahead and convert the infoboxes. I'd like to suggest a little bit of restructuring on them, too: At the moment, every article with an infobox has all of its content contained in that infobox. This is pretty uncommon across all Wikia sites, and although it doesn't have any big disadvantages (looks just like the "normal" templates do), it's much harder to edit, and might frustrate future contributors.
To make things simpler, I'll switch them over to infoboxes that really just contain the key facts, and not the whole article text. It'll look the same on the finished page!
I've already gotten started, but it's still enough work for two. I can convert the template to the portable markup. But the articles the templates are on also need to be edited a little bit, to accommodate the new organization of the content - meaning the article text needs to be taken out of the template, and put underneath it. It's not much to do, but it has to be done on every article, so maybe we can divide that up between us.
I'll post a link to an example once I've done the first article, to show you what I mean!
I've converted the Character infobox template to the portable markup and started changing the articles to incorporate the new template structure. You can see it on Wade Owen Watts or Samantha Evelyn Cook for example. I gave the box a lighter styling, too, because the grey font on a black background was a bit hard to read, and seemed a bit sinister in the site's light theme. What do you think? Anything that needs changing?
All other articles with the Character infobox need to be edited now as well - I'm on that.
This infobox was easy, but the Media infobox template is a little more tricky. I'll look into whether that switch will still work with the portable markup (I hope so).
Converting the Location infobox template was more straightforward. It's only a Draft so far, though, but if you like it, feel free to approve it! After that, all articles it is on will also need to be edited in the same way. They're only three, so if you have time this weekend ... ;)
They were actually syntaxed like html before, but contained a lot more wikitext, to accomplish the styling. With the new markup, all styling information is contained in Special:CSS. If you're interested in the what and why on that, here's the official blog post.
Are you just as excited as I am about Spielberg directing the film? :) So...I was wondering if you'd be interested in me spiffing your wiki. What I'd do is create a new layout for the wiki and you can tell me what you want added or removed once I'm finished. Let me know what you think. =]
Hi again! Okay so I've gone ahead and made a few changes to the main page. I made the headings video game jargon, but that can easily be changed if you don't like that. I also changed the background, color scheme, and wiki navigation bar. Let me know what you think. :)
Love the logo, layout, and color scheme. The background tiles (repeats), and I was trying to avoid that. The issue is with the file size; is there any way to upload a larger file that is a decent quality (e.g. a medium quality JPG is ok, but I don't want a small PNG).
Check out your Admin Dashboard, which can by found by clicking "Admin" on the bottom toolbar -- it has links to all your new tools. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck with your new (old) wikia!
There aren't any stills from Ready Player One because the movie has barely begun production. If the still originated from officially released material (audiobook, movie teaser/trailer, alternate cover), then please state that. If it's a fan production, say it was fan-made.
