A Smell Tower is a computerized tower that produces artificial smells to enhance a user's experience when interacting with the OASIS.
During his hunt for the egg, Wade Watts had a Olfatrix smell tower in the corner of his apartment that was capable of generating over two thousand discernible odours. It also doubled as an industrial-strength air conditioner/purifier which was primarily what Wade used it for as a lot of programmers liked to code really horrific smells into their simulations just to mess with people who owned smell towers. However, he did use it once on Archaide at a pizza restaurant so that he could smell the tomato sauce.
